It's been a very rough week in the northeast - hurricane winds, horizontal rain

and two feet of snow in New York. No power for four and a half days put strain

on our resources and generator. But we worked through it and are enjoying the

sun for the first time for days.

Despite nature's power - and she has shown how powerful she can be recently,

the business of living goes on. We see it every time we send out birth announcements,

wedding invitations, party invitations and all the other card ocassions that help to keep us

connected to one another. We are so happy and grateful to be a part of that connection......

Forgive us if we seem a little distracted. The Winter Olympics in Vancouver have taken

over as our #1 daily conversation. To watch the awesome talent among those athletes

is amazing and awe inspiring and although there are nail biting moments, especially in

the ski, luge and bobsled competitions (such speeds).... watch you must and cheer!

For pure entertainment, the ice dancing ruled...all those fancy dress costumes inspired by

a country or folk theme. Ski Cross - new this year and where anything goes is thrilling and 

scary. Snowboarding is a favorite where Shaun White rules the halfpipe and then there is

Apolo Anton Ohno ......speed skating into history and breaking hearts all the way.

So many competitors and so much history being made that I hope we can be forgiven for

getting carried away - the olympics will be over soon and we will all get back to our

daily lives envigorated and slightly out of breath!

Sadly, a shadow was cast over the games when Nodar Kumaritashvili, was killed during

a luge training session when he was ejected from his sled, hitting a steel pole.

We add our sympathy and thoughts to the family, friends and colleagues of the athlete.

To be able to report on our recent trip to The Niche Awards in Philadelphia is a pleasure and a joy

as our favorite finalist WON!!!! It was an amazing and exciting night. Talent and artistry was

everywhere you looked, and every artist there should be congratulated on the amazing work

they submitted. We saw so many beautiful and unique creations that we plan to tell you about

Winner in the Sculpture to Wear Category

We are on our way to Philadelphia to attend the Niche Awards.

The NICHE Awards program began in 1990 to celebrate excellence and

innovation in American and Canadian fine craft. Artists are recognized in

professional and student divisions.

We are honored to know one of the professional finalists in the category of

Sculpture to Wear (Concept Jewelry). Jay Bridgland of Bridgland Studios is a

truly amazing glass artist and we are very excited to be going to the awards

ceremony and seeing him win (fingers crossed.)
